Obituary for Lawrence L. Harrenstein

Lawrence L. Harrenstein, age 84 of Freeport, IL, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Mercy Health Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born April 13, 1933; the son of the late John and Lydia (Ratmeyer) Harrenstein. He attended Forreston High School. Lawrence married Theo Stamm on December 31, 1955.
He had served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked at Kelly Springfield for 31 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Cedarville Emmanuel Church and a former member of the American Legion. Lawrence enjoyed gardening and he loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Theo of Freeport; son, Brian Harrenstein of Freeport; daughters, Michelle (Pat) Lafferty of Somonauk, IL and Lisa Lang of Freeport; grandchildren, Tyson (Rachel) Juergens, Tyler (Tanya) Juergens, Tyne Shaddix, Ashley (Jared) Krusey, and Drew Lang; great grandchildren: Tucker, Cody, Maddox, Chase & Eliza Juergens; Hailey, Tayson & Kayla Juergens; Tristen & Abrianna Shaddix; and Easton & Baylor Krusey; Brother, Wayne (Karen) Harrenstein of Eden, NC; sisters, Carolyn (Neil) Busker of Pella, IA and Doris (Gary) Smith of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Vernon, Marvin, Kenny & Clarence.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8th form 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 9th at 11:00 am at Cedarville Emmanuel Church in Cedarville, IL. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. Condolences may be shared with his family at www.walkermortuary.com.
